The laboratory of condensed matter spectroscopy and opto-electronic physics (LCMSOEP) of Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU), founded in 2001, is the key construction programme of Project 985 and 211 of the university. This lab is mainly engaged in experimental and theoretical research on the microscopic electronic states of condensed matter and the physics of opto-electronic devices, with the features of wide wavelength range(ultraviolet to far infrared), ultralow temperature (1.6K), ultrafast laser pulse (femtosecond), strong magnetic field (17 Tesla) and micro-raman/PL (<1um, 325.0 & 514.5nm lasers).

Since the establishment of LCMSOEP, it has acquired a series of innovative achievements in following research fields: controllable synthesis and property studies of semiconductor quantum structure arrays’ system, opto-electronic characteristics and quantum control of ordered silicon quantum dot structures, opto-electronic properties of novel nitrides and oxides semiconductors, and semiconductors detection and imaging in far-infrared/THz region, etc.

Currently, LCMSOEP contains 7 instructors and more than 20 postgraduates. Up to now, more than 100 postgraduates have spent their study and research lives and successfully acquired their degrees. It has published at least 300 SCI articles and been authorized about twenty national invention patents. Furthermore, it has undertaken more than 40 scientific research projects and received greater than 50 million RMB research funding. The academic team has entered the “Changjiang Scholars and Innovation Team Development Plan” of Ministry of Education of P. R. China, and gained durative support in 2013. In 2009, it became one crucial unit of the “key laboratory of artificial structures and quantum control, ministry of education”, focused on the research of semiconductor quantum structure and quantum process controlling.
